Marketing automation ROI worksheet guide

Automation value depends on the time actually released, the way that capacity is used and the cost of keeping the workflow operating.

Measure the manual baseline

Sample the task frequency and time required, including exceptions. Record who performs the work and the loaded hourly cost used in the model. Avoid basing the calculation only on the fastest successful demonstration.

Put it in context

Lead routing and exception handling

Inspect validation, duplicate checks, destinations and exception handling.

Include recurring work

Subtract platform fees, usage costs, maintenance and human review from the estimated benefit. Adjust for the share of savings the business can realistically realise. Released capacity does not necessarily reduce payroll or become cash savings.

Review payback honestly

Divide setup cost by positive monthly net value for a simple illustrative payback. If net value is zero or negative, the scenario has no positive payback. Use a pilot to replace assumptions with observed operating evidence.

Put the guidance to work

Capture your starting point, assign an owner to the next action, and decide what evidence will confirm that it worked.
